Treasured Heirlooms Crochet is a subsidiary of Hook And Web Designs . 2005 – 2014, Hook and Web Designs. I had been asked recently to make a baby blanket, and when I was done, I had a bit of yarn left over. So I was thinking about using up the rest of my baby yarn to make a cute hat and diaper cover set to match the baby’s blanket theme.

I found used medium worsted weight yarn, and I wanted to use my baby light sport weight yarn! So that’s how this pattern came to be. This is an easy pattern starting with the top band, continuing all of the way around to the opposite end by using simple hdc stitches. Then the border is worked in sc stitches, and finished off by sewing on 2 buttons. Make it all one color, or add a sporty stripe. Row 1: Hdc in 3rd ch from hook, hdc in each next 69 chs. From where you left off, count in 17 sts, attach yarn to 18th stitch with a sl st.

If you already have any of those parts, great! But you probably shouldn’t buy more of them just for mining just yet.

Row 4: Ch2, hdc in same st, hdc in next 35 sts. 2tog, hdc in next 34 sts. 2tog, hdc in next 33 sts. 2tog, hdc in next 32 sts.

Turn bottom Up and Sew on buttons. No reproduction, sale, nor distribution of pattern without consent from author. From row 25 up, it’s supposed to be 2hdc in 1st st. Do you have a pattern for this in a size 12 months?

I based this pattern on a diaper cover that I have, so I do not have the exact measurements for a size up. However, I don’t think it would be too hard to adjust. Probably a silly question but do you start the hdc and hdc2tog in same stich as chain 2? I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong but I keep losing stitches! This comment has been removed by the author. In the future, is it ok for me to sell too? It’s probably twice the width across the top. Okay so mine is fine until I SC 36 along first side. Then it says sc2tog in corner and do 14stitches, 2 in corner. How can we do 14 stitches when we originally started out with 17?

Mine also turned out quite large. I am going to try stopping at row 32 then doing the finishing rows. At the waist line I will overlap the two button strips and I think it will work for a newborn. This was an easy to follow pattern. I am an experienced needle worker and crochet pretty tight but not sure why it turned out so large.

I used baby sport yarn and a G hook. I’m really not sure why it’s coming out so big for some of you? I was using the Baby Luv Fashion yarn, so I can only think of a difference in the yarn? I know where to sc on the border? This is something that I can use to save some diaper expenses.

The pattern is very easy to create and pretty sure my son will be more comfortable wearing this rather than wearing his plastic diaper. I learn from a good blog, your blog I have a great inspiration, thank you. I learn from a good blog, your blog is great, thank you. Row 14 should not be there. In row 15 you cannot get 26 stitches with a hdc2tog at both the beginning and end of the row starting with 27 stitches. Visit 365 Crochet’s profile on Pinterest. Although I am still buried in snow, I am dreaming of summer!
