Russian cosmonauts will be trained on the basis of the Russian Special Forces University, which is located in the Chechen Gudermes. This was told by the head of the Cosmonaut Training Center Pavel Vlasov at a meeting with the head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, on Tuesday, June 18, RIA Novosti reports.

According to Vlasov, there are a lot of common points in the training programs for cosmonauts and special forces. The university in Gudermes allows to conduct on its site a significant part of the training of astronauts who are now forced to prepare in different places.

Vlasov said that as early as next year a special parachute training for astronauts could begin. In addition, in Chechnya, it is possible to conduct survival training after landing in the mountains, he noted. The astronaut training program also includes mountaineering and airborne training and the provision of tactical medical assistance.

Recall, on June 3, another recruitment to the cosmonaut corps started in Russia. It will last two years. During this time it is planned to select four to six candidates.
